Arduino Chicken Coop Controller

Chicken Coop Arduino Controller

When I started my chicken coop, I knew I wanted it to be technically advanced, but I didn’t really want it to *look* too high tech, and not too “country” either. So I just went for it and I’m pretty happy with the results. Being the chicken nerd I am, I loved every phase of combining technology with building a chicken coop and raising chickens. (I actually don’t think I’ll ever want to stop adding to it ...

Predator Motion Detector Alarm & Deterrent for Chicken Protection

Note: this is currently working in my front yard to help keep deer from munching on our “deer resistant” plants. (insert sarcastic tone here; apparently deer haven’t read this list of plants) Anyway, this seems to really help as deer don’t like funny noises in the middle of the night and HATE to be stared at by cougars. Technology is here to stay (especially in ...

Drum Transcription | Black Velvet | Alannah Myles

Posted by:

This slow, not so typical shuffle groove for “Black Velvet” just kills me every time I hear it. I thought it was worth transcribing and posting this as many drummers out in the world want to know how to play it and/or read it. You’ll notice that although it’s a *relatively* simple triplet/ /shuffle / rock beat, Anderson’s accents on the hats (3rd beat of 1st triplet and 2nd beat of 2nd triplet, the whole song seriously swings. ...

Don’t Leave PVC in Sunlight

Posted by:

Do you have a PVC irrigation system in your yard?

If you do, is any of it exposed to the sun?  if so, it’s bad.

Why?
Because it becomes brittle by the UV Rays.

Here are the affects on PVC when exposed to sunlight over time:

Impact Strength Impact Resistance Decrease
Tensile Strength Pressure Capacity No Effect
Modulus of Elasticity Pipe Stiffness No Effect

What can be done to prevent PVC damage from the sun:

Wrap it or paint it. (wrapping is better if you live in cold climates to avoid ...
