Automatic Chicken Coop Heater

The Automatic Chicken Coop Heater is actually pretty simple:

Essentially 2 lights (1 halogen and 1 florescent bulb) triggered on an off by temperatures. There are 2 different chicken heater systems:

  1. Coop Interior: to heat the interior of the coop
  2. Coop Exterior: to keep the exterior water pipe from freezing/cracking.

“Rich” – Wheaton Maran Rooster

I’m Rich and I’m the Cock of the Walk around here. As you can see I’m a perfect example of male birds being the most beautiful out of the flock. I’m a Wheaton Maran Rooster but I’m not mean like some of my brethren. I’m actually quite docile. I had a respiratory infection when I was younger which kinda mellowed me out. I don’t really ever crow and I’m so far, ...

The Code for Arduino Chicken Coop Door

Check the light levels every 10 minutes to avoid the readings bouncing back and forth between dark/twilight/light during those dawn/dusk minutes. Then, when “dark” is reached (for me i chose >= 0 && <= 3 based on when ...

Chicken Coop Arduino Controller

When I started my chicken coop, I knew I wanted it to be technically advanced, but I didn’t really want it to *look* too high tech, and not too “country” either. So I just went for it and I’m pretty happy with the results. Being the chicken nerd I am, I loved every phase of combining technology with building a chicken coop and raising chickens. (I actually don’t think I’ll ever want to stop adding to it ...

Predator Motion Detector Alarm & Deterrent for Chicken Protection

Note: this is currently working in my front yard to help keep deer from munching on our “deer resistant” plants. (insert sarcastic tone here; apparently deer haven’t read this list of plants) Anyway, this seems to really help as deer don’t like funny noises in the middle of the night and HATE to be stared at by cougars. (mountain lions, not middle-aged ladies) I’m still working on this project, but having trouble getting the mp3 ...

Drum Transcription | Black Velvet | Alannah Myles

Posted by:

This slow, not so typical shuffle groove for “Black Velvet” just kills me every time I hear it. I thought it was worth transcribing and posting this as many drummers out in the world want to know how to play it and/or read it. You’ll notice that although it’s a *relatively* simple triplet/ /shuffle / rock beat, Anderson’s accents on the hats (3rd beat of 1st triplet and 2nd beat of 2nd triplet, the whole song seriously swings. ...
